Peter Shelton - My Ride is Dedicated to You

What is it about Peter that I find so noteworthy and honorable that I'd dedicate the ride to him?

Smart guy, incredibly intelligent and engaged with life. One of the youngest musicians to join the San Francisco Symphony - yep, at the ripe old age of 23. A cellist and a damn good one. Interested in the awards and honors he earned, take a look here. Dedicated to doing the best job he could in everything he attempted - inspiration #1.

Friendly guy - my god, he exuded warmth and honest caring. Always open to talking and sharing what was up for him. Wonderful energy and, a friend. Inspiration #2.

Long term survivor of AIDS. He lived with it for over 20 years. Peter did not let AIDS consume his life - it was a part of his life, yea, a major part, but he lived an incredibly full life with it. When he knew his time was short, he elected to stay at home with his partner Javier and his friends - there was really nothing on his "have to do" list - he had done it already. Inspiration #3.

Generous man - gave back by volunteering, frequently through music, to various HIV/AIDS related organizations. Limited time, yet he spent some of it giving back instead of taking. Inspiration #4.

He loved bike riding, need I say more? He was out riding weeks before he died. Inspiration #5.

It's all about people my friends and Peter was one remarkable person that I am so happy to have known. Wow, what an honor to be able to remember him this way and strive to learn and grow from this opportunity!
